We are Terrance and Mary Boyle, owners of Forever-Green Farm & Gardens in Tracadie, Nova Scotia. What began in 1987 as a part-time 40-acre farm has gradually expanded into a 600-acre farm, employing 5 full-time and 4 seasonal workers. We have livestock, grazing pastures, grass and vegetable crop land, designated wetland, multiple irrigation ponds, woodlots, a provincially inspected meat processing plant, an industrial composting facility, and a biogas plant. Our core mission is to provide high quality food at a fair price while practicing biodiversity, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture.
We grow a large variety of seasonal vegetables such as beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, garlic, greens, herbs, onions, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini, and more. We follow strict growing practices and standards, and we never use herbicides or synthetic fertilizers.
Our cattle and sheep are grass-fed and grass-finished, and all of our livestock are raised without steroids, antibiotics, or added growth hormones. Our high quality meat products have a delicate, full-flavoured taste, and are processed on location in our provincially inspected meat plant.
Our composting facility uses fishing industry by-products to create a valuable soil amendment that enhances our crops and forages. Our renewable energy biogas plant produces animal bedding, nutrient rich crop input, and heat for the greenhouses, while the electricity is sold to the grid. Our long-term goal is to be completely self-sustaining by producing all of our own crop inputs, feed rations for livestock, and renewable energy to power equipment, vehicles, and buildings.
You can find Forever-Green products every Saturday year-round at the Antigonish Farmers’ Market and every Sunday from June to October at the Mabou Farmers’ Market. Alternatively, our products can be pre-ordered and picked up at the farm. We also sell bulk compost to our residential, landscaping, and agricultural customers.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
